The de facto President of the Republic, Jocelerme Privert, met this week at the National Palace with telecommunication operators in Haiti.

Participated in this meeting: Yves Romain Bastien, the Minister of Economy and Finance, Jacques Evelt Éveillard, Minister of Public Works, Transport and Communications, Jean Marie Altema, Director General of the National Telecommunications Council (CONATEL) and officials of Access Haiti (Allen C. Bayard), Digicel (Maarten Boute) and Natcom (Van Ngoc Hoang).

On the agenda : the improvement of telecommunications services in Haiti, reducing fraud, scanning services, the possible extension of the Temporary 4G license or the need for a permanent license issued by CONATEL. Various issues related to interconnection were also discussed.

After this meeting, a committee formed by the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Public Works, and CONATEL, will have to be created soon, to discuss with the operators on various issues, including those related to the security of sites of operators or the adoption of a new legal framework for a harmonized development of the telecommunications sector.
