Sandra Honoré, The Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General (SRSG) and head of UN Stabilization Mission in Haiti (Minustah) is deeply saddened by the loss of life, destruction and damage caused by hurricane Matthew. She offers her sincere condolences to the people and the Government of Haiti, in particular to the victims and their families.

The SRSG wants to express her solidarity and that of the United Nations with Haiti in facing this devastation. She also reiterates the United Nations' commitment to support the Haitian authorities in addressing the urgent humanitarian needs.
