iciHaiti - Humanitarian : Japanese Solidarity

Friday, in response to the request of the Haitian Government, the Government of Japan decided to provide emergency relief goods through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) following the severe damage caused by Hurricane Matthew.
This aid composed of tents, blankets, tarpaulins, foam mattresses, plastic tanks, water tank and water purifiers coming from the warehouse of JICA based in Miami, will be sent in the country on an emergency flight.
Moreover, considering the food critical situation, 900 metric tons of rice equivalent to 30,000 bags of 30 kg each, constituting part of the cargo granted last August to the Haitian Government under the KR2015 and which were originally intended for sale to stabilize the consumer market, will be distributed free of charge to victims on a decision taken jointly by the Office of Monetization of Development Aid Programs (BMPAD) and the Government of Japan.
