iciHaiti - Post-Matthew : Installation of a Support Commission to athletes

Abel Nazaire, the Minister of Youth, Sports and Civic Action, has proceeded to the installation of a public-private Joint Commission to support efforts to help the members of the sports sector victims of the passage of the hurricane Matthew.

This Commission will have as mission to : identify the victims of the sports sector; identify the needs of the affected athletes; seeking in-kind donations from other sectors for a psychological support, materials and technical to victims; organize relief actions and evaluate the damaged sports facilities;

Commission members :
Paul Emile Adrien, representative of the Ministry (President) ;
Ralph Kernizan,President of the Haiitan Federation of Table Tennis (Deputy Coordinator) ;
Alain Jean Pierre, Secretary General of the Haitian Olympic Committee (HOC) (Secretary General) ;
Étienne Beauvoir, member of the Executive Committee of the Haitian Football Federation (Treasurer) ;
Marina Gourgue, former volleyball player and former member of the HOC (Member) ;
Me Ronald AUGUSTE, Legal adviser to support the Commission ;

The Minister Nazaire thanked the Board members for their interest in this initiative to help the sports family affected by Matthew and stressed the importance of psychological support to bring young people and affected populations beside of technical assistance and material necessary.
