iciHaiti - Social : Mass migration of Haitians, French Guiana overwhelmed
Largely due to the catastrophic situation that Haiti is suffering, Guyanese communities now find themselves with insufficient means to assume this massive influx of migrants. Recall that Guyana already has more than 10,000 asylum seekers, most of whom fled their country for economic reasons.

As already pointed out the Mayor of Saint-Laurent du Maroni, without additional financial assistance of the hexagon (France), communities can no longer assume the consequences of such a drastic increase in population, either in terms of education, health, housing or welfare, facing an increasing number of Haitian migrants who should soon reach 25,000, or 10% of the population of French Guiana.
