Haiti - Diaspora : A Haitian-Canadian skater at the Gala des Champions of the Grand Prix de France
Sunday, November 13th, between 2:30 pm and 5:00 pm (French time), candadian Maxime Billy Fortin (30), a Haitian-born skater, will be the guest of honor of the French Federation of Ice Sports at the Gala des Champions of the Grand Prix de France, one of the world's most prestigious events of figure skating as a sign of solidarity with Haiti.

This event, which will take place at the "Arena of Paris" (formerly Palais Omnisports in Paris-Bercy), is part of the Haiti project supported by the Haitian Olympic Committee, the Haitian Ski Federations and the new Federation of Ice Sports (FHSG, deposited since 25 October 2016), to participate in the next Olympic Winter Games in PeyongChang 2018 (South Korea).

Maxime Billy Fortin, born in Port-au-Prince, adopted by a Canadian family, was ranked twice 10th at the Canadian Figure Skating Championship, decided to reinforce the link with his country of origin and to go up again on his skates for Haiti.

For those who can travel, a support committee of Haitians living in France will be present in the stands of the Aréna de Paris - Bercy. For the others, the TV broadcast will be made by the French channel France 3 and probably rebroadcast in many countries.

For information, the Haitian Federation of Ice Sports (FHSG) has been officially registered with the Haitian Olympic Committee since October 25, 2016. It will soon be referenced by ISU, the international skating organization.
