Haiti - Humanitarian: Qatar launches humanitarian intervention in Haiti
The Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) recently sent a relief delegation to the Republic of Haiti as part of a humanitarian mission funded by the Qatar Development Fund (QFD) to support 2,400 affected families, Hurricane Matthew.

Like any preliminary response, the QRCS activated its Information Center in Doha for follow-up and update of the damage evolution and a humanitarian appeal was launched of 3,650,000 Qatari Rial (QR) (± 1 million Dollars) to provide urgent assistance to 40,000 people in the areas of health, food security, shelter, drinking water and sanitation units, in addition to various non-food items.

The emergency response will be implemented in coordination with other partners such as organizations of the international humanitarian movement, local charities and United Nations organizations.

This contribution and this emergency needs action plan to help the people affected by Hurricane Matthew is part of the humanitarian strategy adopted by the State of Qatar to alleviate human suffering wherever it may be.

As part of this action plan, the Qatar Red Crescent Society will provide medicines, medical supplies and equipment, hygiene kits, mosquito nets, tarpaulins, blankets, clothing and kitchen utensils, that will be distributed to 22,000 Haitians.
