Haiti - FLASH : Pursuit and shooting in Gonaïves

Friday in Gonaïves, around 4:00 am an armed band attacked and robbed of their money several money changers near the city center, before fleeing, pursued by a police patrol.

During a shoot-out between police and bandits in the locality of Marotte, one of the thieves was killed and another seriously wounded, others managed to escape.

Besides the seizure of two guns and ammunition, the police recovered a suitcase with a loot in euros, dollars and several hundred thousand Gourdes.

This intervention comes as part of Operation "Katon Wouj", said Inspector Jean Mary Rochenel, who welcomed the intervention saying that the gangsters who escaped will be found and brought to justice.
