Haiti - Security: Military reinforcement at the Dominican border

Thursday, Dominican Defense Minister Rubén Diario Paulino Sem, on an inspection visit of the military at the border in Dajabón, confirmed that as a preventive measure, due to post-election conflicts, demonstrations and of climate of violence that prevails in Haiti, the Dominican army and CESFRONT (Cuerpo Especializado en Seguridad Fronteriza Terrestre) had increased their military and strengthened surveillance on the border with Haiti.
Also questioned on the recent purchase of a new plane designed to surveillance, of more than one million dollars, to combat drug trafficking, Lieutenant-General Rubén Darío Paulino Sem said that this aircraft will also be used to monitor the Dominican coastal zone and to combat illegal migration and other types of smuggling.
