Mayor Chevry said that he had spoken to Jovenel Moïse by telephone and that there was "no problem" and that he is continuing the preparations for his carnival in Port-au-Prince "I said to the President that I do my Carnival in Port-au-Prince to preserve the tradition. He told me he has no problem with that [...]"

The Mayor also said that he also discussed the financing of the Carnival of Port-au-Prince with the President-elect "I think there will be an envelope for Port-au-Prince. I told him that I wanted that the State support the Carnival of Port-au-Prince, as it supports all the other cities of the country."
