Lesly Condé, Consul General of Haiti in Chicago, reminds the entire Community that since 1977, March 8th has been officially recognized by the United Nations as the International Women's Day.

"On this occasion, we will pay tribute to the women from everywhere and naturally to those at home.

We know how all societies rely on women and on the indispensable role they play in the very existence of our species. Today, she are becoming more confident and self-sufficient. We will all benefit.

As for the Haitian woman, she represents an example of self-sufficiency for all those who know her. Our society has always relied on the resilience, courage, optimism and imagination of women. It was she who taught us not to be afraid to excel."
