iciHaiti - Economy : Ferry Boat Project in Haiti

Carlo Cérome, the Planning Director of the Maritime and Navigation Service of Haiti (SEMANAH), who advocates the modernization of national cabotage, deplores and finds it inadmissible that water penetrates ships in poor condition that transport passengers, recalling that things will change in the future "We are currently working on the Ferry Boat project, the Maritime Training Institute, but financial resources are very scarce so we are working with several bodies to achieve the realization of this national cabotage project and a Caribbean fleet among others. Initiatives that will contribute to sustainable maritime development in the country."

Recall that Haiti has 1,535 kilometers of coastline and 75 coastal cities, SEMANAH has offices in 43 of them. However, the weak resources available to the institution prevent it from having effective control over all of these cities. The SEMANAH also has 16 lighthouses with 4 to 6 others to be installed in previously identified sites.
