Haiti - Environment : Closing of the Green Table of South
Friday, the Green Table of the Great South "After Matthew : current status and prospects" ended in Port Salut.

UN Environment supported the Interministerial Committee for Regional Development in the organization of this Green Table, in which important personalities participated during two days, among others: Pierre Simon Georges, the new Minister of the Environment, the deputies Sinal Bertrand (Port Salut) and Rolph Papillon (Corail), the deputy Rolphe Papillon, Chairman of the Commission on Environment, Natural Resources and Spatial Planning, donors including Norway, Switzerland, France, USA and Canada, El Mostafa Benlamlih, United Nations Resident Coordinator in Haiti, and heads of UN agencies and NGOs.

Representatives of the Ministries of the Interior, Finance, Agriculture and local government officials, including the mayors of the municipalities of Les Cayes , Port Salut, Jérémie, Dame Marie and civil society organizations and the private sector, also took part in these discussions, which were organized around five main themes: Emergency humanitarian aid: assessment and perspective; The environmental challenge; Spatial planning: anticipation of risk; Financing for recovery; Agriculture: the threat of famine.
