On the initiative of the "Fondation des Anciens de Saint-Louis" (FASLG), a talk-chat will be organized on Thursday 25 May at 6.30 p.m. in the Acajou room of the Hôtel Karibe, on the theme "What security force for Haiti ?"

Dr. Hérold Toussaint, Vice-Rector of the State University of Haiti (UEH), will present the academic aspect of the issue and the institutional role of an army. Senator Youri Latortue, President of the Senate, will discuss the difference between a military force and a national police force based on his experience in these two bodies. General Hérard Abraham, retired from the Armed Forces of Haiti (FADH), will speak about the philosophical aspect of the army. The historical context will be presented by Dr. Georges Michel.

The Saint-Louis Thursday Committee hopes that this evening will allow discussions on the perennial question : "Should we reconstitute the army ?" Some will remain on their fixed ideas while others will undoubtedly leave with new arguments, new perspectives for a more enlightened position.
