Haiti - Security : Preparatory meeting for the next hurricane season

On Tuesday morning, Prime Minister Jack Guy Lafontant met with members of the National Federation of Haitian Mayors (FENAMH) and representatives of civil society around the preparatory phase for the next hurricane season, which begins on 1 June and which could be more active this year https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-21047-haiti-flash-above-normal-atlantic-hurricane-season-is-most-likely.html in view of a better coordination of the response to the risks and preparedness planning.
This was an opportunity for the Head of Government to insist on the need to combine efforts to limit the loss of life and property damage in the country.
During the tripartite meeting, discussions focused on the responsibilities of the sectors concerned and the forecasting structures to be put in place. Another important point was the need for resources to improve the management of the population, particularly in areas of risk during the active and post-hurricane periods.
