iciHaiti - DR : Military Exercises at the Border

Monday, the Dominican Army confirmed the dispatch of 574 soldiers to the border with Haiti. These soldiers will remain in the area until 12 June. 61 of them belong to the different schools of the "Dirección General de Educación, Capacitación y Entrenamiento Militar" (DGECEM-ERD) and 403 are officers and cadets of the Military Academy.

This exercise, in addition to supporting the "Shield" operation carried out by the national authorities to protect the border area, aims to encourage soldiers and cadets to use the knowledge acquired in the various institutions so that they can act against any illegal activity on the Dominican-Haitian border.

Among the actions to be carried by the soldiers include: the establishment of checkpoints, registration inspection of vehicles and people, repatriation operations and verification of identity in coordination with migration as well as their participation in reforestation operations along the border line.
