iciHaiti - Politics : Moïse receives the Secretary-General of CARICOM
On Tuesday at the National Palace, President Jovenel Moïse, accompanied by his Chief of Staff, Wilson Laleau, Prime Minister Jack Guy Lafontant and members of the Presidential Cabinet, received Ambassador Irwin Laroque the Secretary General of the Community of Caribbean (CARICOM).

Discussions focused inter alia on the major challenges faced by the region, Haiti's participation in CARICOM activities [Haiti will assume rotating presidency as of January 2018], conclusions and recommendations of the meetings of the Conference of Heads of State and Government of the Community, in particular the regional security, d-risking, the process of reform of the CARICOM Secretariat, intra-regional transport, health, education, the new foreign policy of the United States and the exit of the United Kingdom from the European Union.

President Moïse took the opportunity to inform the Secretary-General of CARICOM of his Government's willingness to work towards closer and deeper cooperation between Haiti and CARICOM.
