iciHaiti - Security : Experimental control of taxi moto this summer
In order to reduce the crime rate involving motorcycles (65%), Ronsard Saint-Cyr, Secretary of State for Public Security and senior officers of the National Police of Haiti (PNH) met with the mayors of 8 communes of the metropolitan area to finalize the taxi-moto control plan in the westdepartment. From this summer, in an experimental phase (after the pilot phase carried out in Pétion ville since December 2016), drivers of taxi-moto will have to wear visible identifiers (Color vest per zone, personal identification number on the vest and on the helmet of each driver).
Divisional Commissioner Carl Henry Boucher, who initiated this plan, explained to the mayors that it is up to the town halls to implement this plan with the support of the PNH.
