Following the call for candidates for the "Prix Théâtre RFI" 2017, in March and April , 13 unpublished texts were pre-selected for their literary, dramaturgical and original qualities.

These texts will be submitted to the final vote of the jury composed of artists and professionals, chaired this year by the writer Dany Laferrière. For this 4th edition, the Selection Committee received 172 applications from 23 countries in Africa, the Indian Ocean, the Caribbean (excluding France from overseas), of Near and Middle East.

Two Haitian texts were selected: "Reconstruction(s)" by Noé Beaubrun and "Quai des ombres" by Faubert Bolivar.

The "Prix Théâtre RFI" 2017 will be awarded in Limoges (France) on Sunday, September 24, within the framework of the Festival "Les Francophonies en Limousin".

The « Prix Théâtre RFI » aims to promote the richness of contemporary Francophone dramatic writing in the South and to promote the career development of young authors, writing in French. RFI and its partners offer the laureate professional support and media exposure through :

A financial allocation awarded by the Society of Dramatic Authors and Composers (SACD) ;
The organization of a residence in France, to the Maison des Auteurs of Limoges and the Théâtre de l'Aquarium with the collective "A mots découverts", financed by the French Institute ;
A working residence at the plateau followed by public readings at the Centre Dramatique National Normandie-Rouen who joined this year the Prix partners ;
A promotion of the text ;
Radio broadcasting on RFI antennas.
