On Monday, commercial activities were completely paralyzed at the binational market of Carisal/Elias Piña (Centre), of Haitian traders were protesting against the abusive behavior of some Dominican military. The protestors erected barricades with rocks on the main road of Belladère leading to the market and with inflamed tires on the secondary roads.
They threw stones and bottles in the direction of the drivers and users of this border crossing point who wanted to override the various barricades in order to get to the market. Dominican and Haitian truckers were forced to turn back to avoid being victims of the violence of the protesters...
