Tuesday, after 2 months of training, 50 new police officers of the 4th Promotion have come to increase the EDUPOL School Police Unit created in 2015 on the initiative of the former Minister of Education Nesmy Manigat, to fight against violence, to discourage the use of alcohol, drugs and weapons in schools, protect and educate students.

According to Pierre Josué Agénor Cadet, Minister of National Education, EDUPOL has helped to reduce violence and other problems in schools. The EDUPOL has a staff of 137 police officers and is present only in the West department. "Arrangements will be made to allow other departments to dispose of them as quickly as possible," said Michel-Ange Gédéon, the Director General of the Haitian National Police (PNH).
