The Embassy of the United States in Haiti welcomes the departure of Carène Desir and Sandra Jn-Gilles who are preparing to travel to the United States to attend the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) program on "The role of NGOs in promoting women's issues."

Through this program, they will have the opportunity to discuss the interaction between non-governmental organizations and the federal, state and local government to support women's issues in a local and global context. In addition, they will explore the relationships between sectors on the challenges faced by women, both nationally and internationally in the work of NGOs on these issues; they will examine the methods used by these organizations to empower women and girls to defend their causes by focusing on new outreach approaches of fundraising, volunteer recruitment and sustainability.
