iciHaiti - FLASH : Johnny John's lawyers claim $3M to Uruguay
The lawyers of Johnny Jean, the young Haitian who had accused of rape in 2011, four Uruguayan peacekeepers of the Minustah, claim from the Uruguayan state damages of about 3 million dollars.

Recall that the soldiers were prosecuted and incarcerated for private violence in 2012 for these events that they had recorded on a mobile phone.

This week, in Uruguay, began the legal proceedings of the civil lawsuit filed in 2015 by the young Haitian who took refuge in the United States after these events. The Ministry of Defense has requested that the prosecution be dismissed for lapsing, pointing out that this request for prosecution was made more than 4 years after the events.

Lawyers of Johnny Jean (Da Silva / Cendoya) point out that the first thing that must be resolved in this case is the lapse raised by the Ministry, a decision that will determine whether the prosecution can continue or not.

For Johnny John's lawyers, the situation was rape and torture. For the Ministry of Defense it was only a game...
