iciHaiti - Social : A bus full of undocumented Haitians, intercepted in DR
Saturday, 12 August, around 4:00 pm, a Hyundai blue-striped blue bus, registered # I-070638 making the route Jimani / Santo Domingo, carrying 21 Haitian (14 male adults, three children and four women) in irregular migratory situation, was intercepted at a military checkpoint in the community of Boca Cachón Dominican Republic near the lake Enriquillo.

The bus was driven by Bienvenido Pérez, 48, who was accompanied by Jonathan Bladimir Ramírez Pérez, 41, who were both detained with illegal migrants to the military post of the Specialized Body for Border Security (CESFRONT).

The illegals who tried to reach Santo Domingo would have paid according to their testimony, between 7,000 and 8,000 pesos each. Some had false documents intended to thwart the Dominican authorities.

The seizure of the bus and the arrests were carried out by members of CESFRONT, the Dominican Ministry of Defense (MIDE) and the Border Intelligence Service (DOIF).
