iciHaiti - Gros Morne : 25 farmers equipped and trained in grafting
Under the project "Improving the food and nutritional security of rural households in the commune of Gros-Morne" financed by the European Union and implemented by the international NGO of French origin "Groupe de Recherche et d'Échanges Technologiques" (GRET), 25 farmers (17 men and 8 women) of the 6th communal section of Gros Morne (Department of Artibonite) after a first 5-day training (theoretical and practical) on grafting, each received a kit of Grafting (grafting, secateurs, gloves, etc...)

This training is part of a grafting program that aims to develop fruit trees in the commune.

The advantage of grafting is that it is possible to create varieties of fruit trees (mainly mango, avocado and lemon trees) that produce crops at different times of the year. Thanks to this, farmers have varieties of trees that allow them to spread their crops during the year. This allows them to both improve their incomes at key times of the year (school fees, etc.) and reduce the lean season.
