Concerned about the need to better coordinate financial assistance from external cooperation, Prime Minister Jack Guy Lafontant met with UNICEF Resident Representative in Haiti, Marc Vincent.
The head of government has particularly emphasized on : the requirement to rationalize spending to better serve the population; The need to strengthen the State through better involvement of the Government and Haitian officials in the design and implementation of projects; The need to take into account the priorities of the Government in the framework of the activities of UNICEF in Haiti and the search for appropriate mechanisms to accelerate the disbursement of funds for the financing of projects defined jointly with the Haitian State...
The head of government also insisted on the firm determination of the current team in power to steer the action of international partners on the ground so that the results are more palpable and in line with the disbursements of the donors. He informed of the establishment of appropriate structures within Ministries and other public institutions to follow up on international cooperation and to accelerate the disbursement process.
