On Thursday as a prelude to the passage of Hurricane IRMA of category 5, Carmel André Beliard, Minister of Agriculture, outlined three key points :

1- The role of the Ministry before and after IRMA, including the collection and processing of information, its monitoring role and the assessment of losses and damages;

2 - Coordination and planning of responses for the sector;

3 - The great risks of disruption of the agricultural season, namely:

(a) the difficult closing of the fiscal year for work undertaken in the context of public investment because of late disbursements.

(b) the period of preparation for the winter crop year (Irma's emergency phase will coincide with this period)
