iciHaiti - Health : $350,000 from Belgium to fight against cholera in Haiti
Didier Reynders, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs of Belgium, has decided to allocate US $ 350,000 to the special fund of 400 million over 2 years of the United Nations for the fight against cholera in Haiti(of which only 2% is funded https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-20204-haiti-cholera-funding-failure-for-the-$400m-un-funds.html )

This voluntary contribution is intended to support the United Nations' new approach to ending the epidemic, namely:

- Intensify efforts to cut cholera transmission and improve access to care;
- Addressing longer-term problems of access to water, sanitation and health systems;
- Develop material assistance for victims, their families and communities.

This contribution is part of Belgium's overall policy, including within the framework of the United Nations, to provide reliable support to the most vulnerable countries on their path to peace, stability and development.

This aid is in addition to the aid of one million euros that Belgium decided a few days ago to allocate to the reconstruction of the islands most affected after the passage of IRMA, among which Haiti.
