The visit of the Dominican Republic's Foreign Minister Miguel Vargas Maldonado to Haiti to meet with President Jovenel Moïse and other senior officials on Tuesday in Haiti, before signing a joint ministerial declaration with his Haitian counterpart Antonio Rodrigue on the development of the border area, was canceled and postponed.

Monday, a little before midnight, the Dominican Chacellery informed us that the trip of Miguel Vargas Maldonado and his delegation to Port-au-Prince was postponed for security reasons, due to risks of possible social movements in Haiti.

Vargas was to lead a delegation of Dominican businessmen and discuss among other topics: economic development of the border area, investment, stimulation of trade for the benefit of both nations and the fight against smuggling...
