iciHaiti - Politics : Patriotic Vigil in Memory of Emperor Jacques 1st
Monday at Kiosk Oxide Jeanty in Champs de Mars, the Ministry of Culture organized a Patriotic Vigil in Memory of the Founder of the Nation, Jean Jacques Dessalines, on the eve of the Commemoration of the 211st of his Death.

In his opening speech, Minister Limond Toussaint took the opportunity to thank and congratulate "all the educational, academic, media, political parties, socio-political organizations and members of civil society who, throughout the Week of Reflections in Memory of Emperor Jacques 1st, have undertaken and are still undertaking presentations, spaces for reflection, exchanges and debates around the life of Jean Jacques Dessalines," adding "These activities will certainly contribute to a sharing of knowledge and experience to enrich the culture and patriotic education of children, youth and the general population."

Referring to history, the Minister recalled that "the name of Jean Jacques Dessalines is synonymous with Liberty for all humanity".
