Following the circulation of a video of Christela Jacques, Miss Universe Haiti 2012 through which some ill-intentioned people take pleasure to accuse the organizing committee of Miss Haiti and to insult Cassandra Chery, Miss Universe Haiti 2017 : "The Organizing Committee would like to point out that the Miss Haiti Contest had its first edition in 2013 with the election of Ketsia Lioudy Iciena as Miss World Haiti at a final ceremony held in July 2013 at the Karibe Hotel.

The Committee had to elect for the first time a Miss Universe Haiti in August 2016 at a final ceremony at the Royal Oasis Hotel with Raquel Pelissier as their first representative at Miss Universe.

Faced with this wave of gratuitous malice towards Christela Jacques and this injustice towards Cassandra Chery who is confused by more than one with Christela Jacques, the Miss Haiti Committee invites the people concerned to put an end to it and especially, to verify the information and the sources before making a propaganda whether it is positive or negative."
