iciHaiti - France : OHDH receives the 2017 Human Rights Prize
The Haitian Human Rights Observatory (OHDH), an organization for the promotion and defense of human rights, has been chosen as the laureate of France's 2017 Human Rights Prize with "Special Mention" by the National Consultative Commission on Human Rights (Commission Nationale Consultative des Droits de l’Homme - CNCDH), a French institution accredited to the United Nations.

As such, the association will be awarded, by the Embassy of France in Haiti, a medal, as well as a diploma attesting to this distinction.

In a statement, the Haitian Observatory says it accepts "this distinction with great humility and sees of it a mark of encouragement in its quest for the Observation, Promotion and Defense of Human Rights in Haiti."

Note that the OHDH was honored for its project "Advocacy for a law on access to information in Haiti" and for its positions against the bill on defamation, voted by the Senate on March 14, 2017 .
