iciHaiti - Politics : More than 600,000 Gdes to celebrate the Independence Day

Samuel Thélusma, the communication director of the Gonaives town hall, confirmed that the Ministry of the Interior and local authorities had disbursed 600,000 gourdes for the preparations for the celebration of the 214th anniversary of independence.
However, according to the municipal administration, this amount is very insufficient to cover all the needs of this important event, while the town hall shares financial responsibility for this commemoration. While recognizing that the major expenses are the responsibility of the Executive including the construction of the official gallery and the traditional reception, he points out that the Gonaives City Council, which mainly manages the socio-cultural and decorative aspects is forced to seek funding elsewhere for lack of sufficient resources. Clarifying that the responsibilities for sanitation and cleaning work are divided between the town hall and the Ministry of Public Works.
