iciHaiti - Diaspora : The Haitian Revolution 28/01/2018 08:42:18
As part of the event "Meeting between Authors and Readers" at the Restaurant "Irene's Pub" in Ottawa, Géralde Alerte Carré, the Minister-Counselor of the Embassy of Haiti in Canada who represented Ambassador Frantz Liautaud, on January 25, participated in the presentation of the book of the Haitian Assistant Professor Philip Kaisary on the Haitian Revolution and the creation of Haiti, the first Free and Independent Nation of America and the Caribbean (The Haitian Revolution in the Litherary Imagination, Radical Horizons, Conservative Constraints) published by "University of Virginia Press". During this talk-meeting organized under the auspices of Carleton University, Philip Kaisary developed his subject under the evocative title "Radical Visions of Freedom: The birth of Haiti". Four Canadian researchers and professors, one of them of Haitian origin, Jean Wolff without forgetting the author himself, have highlighted various aspects of the book and pointed at the ocassion, the importance of the popularization of this slave revolution against the great French army, an event not sufficiently known at the global level. Note that this cultural event is part of the Ottawa International Writers Festival. IH/ iciHaiti
