iciHaiti - FLASH : Dozens of Haitian homes destroyed in arson in the Bahamas

According to Bahamian police, a violent, seemingly criminal fire reduced dozens of houses to ashes in a slum inhabited largely by Haitian migrants, in an area known as "The Mudd" in the city of Marsh Harbor on the island of Abaco.

A Royal Bahamas police official said a local man was in custody because he was suspected of the fire but had not yet been charged.

Deputy Police Commissioner Emrick Seymour said on Monday that investigators were still trying to figure out the exact number of homes lost and how the fire was triggered. No serious injuries or loss of life have been reported.
