Tuesday, January 30, Dejean Victor (60), the Haitian-Canadian businessman well known in the Haitian community of Montreal, arrested in 2015, was sentenced by judge Dominique B. Joly, to 4 years and 2 months prisons for conspiring to import cocaine into Canada from 2009 to 2011.

Former owner of a seniors' residence in Montreal, he used his influence and blackmail to use as "mule" Francine Desormaux, a "vulnerable" woman, employed in the residence, to import cocaine from Haiti. Francine Desormeaux was arrested on March 8, 2011, with about a kilo of cocaine hidden in her panties at Toussaint Louverture International Airport, while she was making her third trip on behalf of Dejean Victor.
