Monday as part of her first visit to Haiti, Guinean Bintou Keita, UN Under-Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations, met with the 19 United Nations Agencies, Funds and Programs and the United Nations Mission for Justice Support in Haiti (MINUJUSTH) working in close coordination to ensure a strong transition in Haiti over a two-year period.

During her stay, she also met with President Jovenel Moïse at the National Palace, the Dean of the Court of First Instance of Port-au-Prince, the Director of the Penitentiary Administration and the Director General of the Haitian National Police.

She recalled that "the presence of the UN Mission is an opportunity for Haiti to move from assistance to development through the implementation of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and in particular SDG # 16 on access to Justice for all and strong institutions, which is at the heart of Minujusth's mandate."
