iciHaiti - Diaspora : Inauguration of an exhibition on Haitian voodoo in Mexico
This Thursday, May 31 at 1 pm will be held the inauguration of an exhibition on Haitian Voodoo at the National Museum of World Cultures (Mexico City).

The cultural and artistic manifestations of Haiti are of a richness, an originality and an astonishing historical depth, but unknown in Mexico. Talking about Haiti is not an easy task, while its image is usually distorted by a multitude of prejudices inherited from colonial times to the present day.

This exhibition presents a different perspective on our country: it focuses on the phenomenon of creolization through the multiple manifestations of the voodoo religion, product of the mixture of cultures associating elements indigenous, African and European, but whose result will far beyond the sum of these cultures. Haitian culture is expressed in its language but also in the originality of its religious, social and artistic contributions, such as painting, iron cut and popular and religious art present in this exhibition.

Thursday, May 31, 1 to 2 pm. Free entry

From June 1st to October 31st 2018, Tuesday to Sunday, 10am - 6pm. Free entry
