iciHaiti - DR : Inspectors of Dominican migration attacked by Haitians
During a migratory control operation in the north of the city of Santiago, particularly in Cocos de Jacagua, Los Reyes, Los Salados, Buenos Aires and other sectors, at least two inspectors from the Directorate General of Migration (DGM) were injured after being attacked with rocks and sticks by Haitians in an irregular situation, who reacted strongly to the presence of immigration officers synonymous with deportation and confronted them with stones and sticks.

One of the inspectors who was wounded after falling to the ground was beaten violently by an immigrant who managed to escape. Several vehicles circulating in the area were stoned and suffered various damages.

The Dominican National Police and migration, are looking for a Haitian who they believe would be the main culprit of this aggression.

It is recalled that in Santiago in particular the very frequent surprise operations of migratory controls which resemble more and more the tracking down of Haitians and the deportations which are multiplied at the instigation of the Mayor of the city, who seeks to get out of commercial areas all illegal Haitian merchants who invade the streets and sidewalks, are causing tension, fear and nervousness in the Haitian community that feels persecuted.
