As part of a project supported by the European Union to fight against forgetting and to raise awareness of the crimes of the period of Duvalier father (1957-1971) and Duvalier son (1971-1986) in Haiti, the Foundation duty of memory in Haiti publishes a bilingual French-Creole booklet entitled "L’Alphabet maudit à mots dits" repeating the words, from A to Z, from the dictatorship of the Duvalier.

With simplicity and humility, this book brings us back to the events that unfolded in Haiti from 1957 to 1986. This first booklet will serve as a dictionary for the booklets that will follow and which will take up the stories of activists and victims of this dark history of the country. Immediately after "L’Alphabet maudit à mots dits" which encapsulates the global problematic, the collection will plunge the reader into thirteen stories that strongly trace the apocalypse of the Duvalier years, father and son.

By warning us against the forgetting and by illustrating the multiple opacities built over the years by the agents of collective amnesia, this book and the collection that follows, evoke the everyday upheavals of this generation, and the resistance of those who defended the general interest with heroism.
