iciHaiti - Politic : A new political group in the Senate

Friday at a press conference, ten senators, most of them from the former ruling majority, stand in a new political bloc called "Senators Group for Political Balance (Groupe de Sénateurs pour l’Équilibre Politique - GSEP).

The GSEP is composed of senators, Denis Cadeau, Francenet Denius, Garcia Delva, Jean Marie Ralph Féthière, Jean Rigaud Bélizaire, Nawoon Marcellus, Onondieu Louis, Pierre Francois Syldor, Rony Célestin and Wilfrid Gélin.

Although constituted for the most part, former members of the presidential majority, the Group affirms that it will be neither on the side of the power in place nor on the side of the opposition "in order to better play its role of "balancer". Southern Senator Pierre François Syldor (PHTK) says that the GSEP will not propose any names of ministers or Directors General in the next government, in order to give more leeway to the Head of State.

Senator Kedlaire Augustin, former leader of the pro-government majority, did not join the new Group and declared that he will henceforth sit as an independent.
