iciHaiti - Education : Grand'Anse handing over keys for 11 reconstructed and rehabilitated schools
Wednesday, September 19 at the National School Catherine Flon in the city of Jeremie, was held the ceremony of handing over keys by Solidarité Laïque Haiti, for 11 schools rebuilt and rehabilitated in the department of Grand'Anse with the support of the French Development Agency (AFD) and the French Embassy. The opportunity to review the history of this project that brought together the efforts of 6 French and Haitian organizations, Haitian authorities and local populations.

This new infrastructure with anticyclonic and earthquake standards has a capacity of about 3,500 students.

Mrs. Anna Lipchitz, Director of AFD, Thomas Poirier, Representative of the Embassy of France, Jean Ernseau Dauphin, Departmental Director of Education and Junior Mercier Head of Mission of Solidarité Laïque Haiti, spoke around the importance education for sustainable reconstruction in Haiti.

This key handover also made it possible to present the future actions of "Timoun Retounen Lekòl" a reconstruction project started in 2017 and co-financed by AFD with the aim of sustainably encouraging children to return to and stay in school in 60 schools in the Great South and make the population less vulnerable to climate hazards.

The ceremony began at the Catherine Flon National School in Jérémie and continued at Lycée Nord Alexis, still in the city of Jérémie.
