iciHaiti - Politic : Inclusive Birth Registration
Canada, the Ministry of Justice and UNICEF jointly launched the first Steering Committee of the Inclusive Birth Registration Project. This project aims to promote gender equality and contribute to the empowerment of women and girls. Canada believes that the women and girls approach is the most effective way to reduce poverty and build a more inclusive, peaceful and prosperous world.

This initiative aims to strengthen the national system of birth registration by targeting :

1) Strengthening the protection of Haitian children most exposed to the risks of violence, abuse, neglect and exploitation, their access to legal protection mechanisms and birth registration services, egalitarian, universal, free and quality ;

2) The 15% improvement in the registration rate of girls and boys under the age of 5 in the Civil Registry in the targeted areas;

3) Improving the participation and contribution of women and girls to local governance and the use of vital registration services in targeted areas with attention to sexual and reproductive health.
