Members of the specialized Land Border Security Corps (CESFRONT), intercepted 850 Haitians (men, women and children) in the last hours, in their attempt to return illegally to the national territory, after spending Christmas and New Year with their families in Haiti.

These Haitian citizens in an irregular migration situation were arrested in the border areas of Manzanillo, Santa Maria, Cañongo, Loma de Cabrera and Dajabón and were traveling to several Dominican destinations. They were taken to several detention centers before being handed over to the authorities of the Directorate General of Immigration (DGM) for identification and deportation to Haiti.

These arrests were made as part of the anti-return operation set up last December.
