iciHaiti - Tourism : Minister Stephenson at the 2nd World Conference on Employment and Development of MSMEs
This week Marie Christine Stephenson, the Minister of Tourism, accompanied by its Director General Andy Durosier and a delegation of experts in Tourism, attended to Montego Bay in Jamaica, the 2nd World Conference on Employment and Integral Development and the crucial place occupied by Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs) in this sector of the Caribbean economy, with regard to global issues (risks and disasters, new technologies, access to financing, training, preservation of heritage and indigenous cultures, etc...)

Note that this was an opportunity for the Minister of Tourism to meet the representative of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) to discuss the Memorandum of Understanding that will be signed very soon between the Ministry and UNWTO for technical support Strengthening National Tourism Statistics in Haiti.

On the sidelines of this Conference, the Haitian delegation had the pleasure of discussing the perspectives and lessons learned with several prominent people in the sector at the regional and global levels, including : the Minister of Tourism of Jamaica, Hon. Edmund Bartlett; the former President of Colombia, S.E. Álvaro Uribe Vélez; the Minister of Industry, Trade, Agriculture and Fisheries of Jamaica, Hon. Audley Shaw; the Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport of Jamaica, Hon. Olivia Grange; the Deputy Secretary General of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), Jaime Cabal; the Deputy Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), Nestor Mendez; the former Secretary General of the World Tourism Organization, Taleb Rifai; the Secretary General of the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO), Mr. Hugh Riley, the President of the Hotel and Tourism Association of the Caribbean (CHTA), Mrs. Patricia Affonso-Dass and the General Manager of the Hotel Association and Tourism of the Caribbean (CHTA) Frank Comito.
