iciHaiti - Security : The UEH condemns the violent attacks against the Rectorate
The Rectorate of the State University of Haiti (UEH) informs that its premises were the object of violent attacks on February 7 by malicious individuals who wanted to take advantage of the current crisis of the country for realize their acts.

It is around 11:30 in the morning that these individuals, including some students expelled from the UEH, including Kébert Bastien, aka "Keb", Jean Gardy Clervil aka "Pakamo" and "Flore" well known, have erected fiery barricades throughout the area and even in front of the main barrier of the institution. Wanting to enter the inner courtyard, they attempted to break through the barrier and the entrance door of the checkpoint, but without success. Not wanting to stay at this point, they threw stones and Molotov cocktails against the locals that caused extensive damage and tried to set fire to the Rector's reception room.

Partial damage assessment :
Several windshields of broken vehicles,
An outdoor surveillance camera destroyed
A broken water pipe
An internet access cable destroyed by a Molotov cocktail
The main barrier damaged by fire
The door of the checkpoint seriously damaged

The Rectorate strongly condemns these acts and recalls that this is the umpteenth time that these former students expelled and their acolytes take advantage of the socio-political situation to violently attack the premises of the University and attack the property of the institution and to the life of its members. The Rectorate will not be intimidated by the violence of those troublemakers who have no sense of the common good and whose court cases are still open.
