Dominican Chancellor Miguel Vargas has denied the rumor published by some Haitian media, which suggests that the Dominican Embassy in Haiti has been closed, or that its staff has been evacuated.

In an official statement, Chancellor Vargas said "the Diplomatic Mission remains open and its Ambassador Alberto Despradel, as well as his diplomatic, administrative and military staff are still at headquarters. Adding that due to the situation of violence and insecurity in Haiti, services to the public are temporarily suspended, but the Embassy and consulates continue to operate.
