Over the next two weeks, a first group of Haitian migrants from Chile and Venezuela is expected to arrive in Tijuana (Baja California, Mexico) said Gustavo Banda Aceves, founder of "Villa haitiana"

This group of at least 200 people are fleeing the serious economic crisis and racism that these two South American countries are facing, said Banda, adding that he has been warned that other larger groups should arrive by end of the month…

In order to receive the first Haitians, Banda said that a shelter that can accommodate 250 people had already been prepared on the side of the "Villa haitiana".

He stressed that the Haitian community already living in Tijuana is very worried by the socio-political crisis in Haiti and concerned about the safety of their family and friends who remained in the country.
