iciHaiti - Education : Perspective of the Japan-Haiti binational cooperation

Tuesday Pierre Josué Agénor Cadet, the Minister of National Education, received at his office the Ambassador of Japan accredited to Haiti, Mitsuaki Mizumo. The meeting was attended by the Minister's Office Director, Jackson Pléteau and Miloody Vincent, Director of Communications for the Ministry.

New Japanese Ambassador Mitsuaki Mizumo explained all Japanese cooperation in the education sector in Haiti and exchanged views on potential cooperation. School infrastructures, teacher training, and raising awareness of students on seismic risks were at the center of the exchanges.

Ambassador Mizumo renewed Japan's commitment to the education sector in Haiti, particularly in the construction of school infrastructure. He took the opportunity to announce a planned assistance for the sensitization of the Haitian students to the seismic risks by simulation sessions.

Minister Cadet hailed the actions of Japanese cooperation in Haiti and said he welcomed this new assistance on natural risk management.

Teams of Japanese and Haitian technicians must work together to implement the project. They should also take stock of certain corrective measures in the development of mathematical teaching materials and also improve coordination in school infrastructure interventions.
