iciHaiti - Bahamas : Two Haitians face justice in Freeport
Two Haitian nationals Arty Alexis (33) and Myrtha Bertrand-Jeantinord (49) appeared before Chief Justice Debbye Ferguson at the Freeport Court of First Instance (Grand Bahama Island, North West Bahamas).

Arty Alexis is accused of illegal entry into the Bahamas and Myrtha Bertrand-Jeantinord is accused of housing a migrant in an irregular migration situation at her home in Bass Lane to avoid immigration authorities.

Alexis pleaded guilty and was fined $300 or 12 months in jail. He paid the fine and was sentenced to deportation to Haiti.

Ms. Jeantinord, a Haitian national and permanent resident, pleaded not guilty to housing an undocumented migrant. A bail of 1,500 dollars was granted for her release and the case was sent back to 16 May.
